Asia Cup 2023: At a Glance

You’re probably already familiar with some of the world’s top cricket tournaments such as the IPL, the ODI Cricket World Cup, and the T20 World Cup if you’re a die-hard fan. As exciting as any other tournament, the upcoming Asia Cup also belongs to the same league. Fans rally behind the teams in this tournament. The match between India and Pakistan on August 28 will surely be the cherry on top.

It is viewed as a precursor to this year’s T20 World Cup, which will be played later this year. The Asia Cup will eventually feature six teams, five of which have automatically qualified – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. A qualifier round will be held between the UAE, Kuwait, Hong Kong, and Singapore to determine the sixth team.

In 2018, India won the ODI edition of the Asia Cup played in the UAE.

For the 2023 Asia Cup, the T20 format has been retained since the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Originally, Sri Lanka was supposed to host the tournament in 2023. Because of the economic and political challenges facing the country at this time, the ACC officially decided to hold the event in the UAE on July 27. However, Sri Lanka still holds the hosting rights.

As planned, the Asia Cup 2023 will take place from August 27 to September 11 as scheduled.

Asia Cup 2023 Betting Tips and Predictions

According to the current form of individual players and teams, we have compiled the following Asia Cup betting tips:

Since the tournament will be held in the UAE, the weather is likely to be sweltering. The pitches are expected to crack, so spinners will play a crucial role in the tournament.

Most matches will be low-to-moderate scoring.

The majority of captains prefer to chase.

It is expected that Babar Azam, Mohammed Rizwan, and Suryakumar Yadav will be consistent performers among the batsmen.

Yuzvendra Chahal, Rashid Khan, and Shaheen Afridi will likely be the bowlers of choice.

ASIA CUP BETTING PREDICTIONS 2023

  • The most balanced side capable of going the distance, Pakistan have the best chance of winning the tournament this time around.
  • There is an equal chance that India will at least qualify for the finals.
  • The wily Rashid Khan from Afghanistan could end up taking the most wickets in the tournament.
  • It is possible for Pakistan’s Babar Azam to surpass the current leading run-getter Shikhar Dhawan to usurp the top batter’s title.
  • Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka), Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka), Suryakumar Yadav (India), and Shakib Al Hassan (Bangladesh) are also expected to be top performers.

Asia Cup Betting 2023: Team Previews

  1. Pakistan

This time, it is the Pakistanis who are the strongest side, with an excellent mix of pace and spin throughout their order.

Pakistan would be aiming for their third Asia Cup title, currently ranked 3rd in the ICC T20 rankings.

In big tournaments and pressure situations, the only apparent weakness of the team is its inability to handle nerves.

PAKISTAN KEY PLAYERS

  • Captain and opening batsman Babar Azam is currently ranked no. 1 in the ICC T20 rankings and he can play in any situation.
  • Mohammad Rizwan is the second-ranked wicketkeeper in the ICC T20 rankings and is an opening batsman.
  • Currently one of the most feared pacers in the world, Shaheen Afridi’s inswinging deliveries cause batsmen a lot of trouble.
  1. India

It is safe to say that the defending champions are among the favorites to win the championship. Recently, the Men in Blue smashed a world record of 12 consecutive T20I wins.

Currently ranked number one in the ICC rankings, India will be aiming for their eighth continental title.

However, their batting lineup has been inconsistent of late. We are concerned about the poor form of marquee players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rishabh Pant.

INDIA KEY PLAYERS

The top-ranked Indian T20 batsman at the moment, Suryakumar Yadav is in superb form. Bowlers are left dazed and confused by his wide range of strokes.

The googly and flippers of Yuzvendra Chahal, one of cricket’s cunning spinners, should prove to be deadly, especially on pitch conditions in the UAE.

In the death overs, Ravindra Jadeja’s ability to spin and bat will be vital.

  1. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka are currently ranked 8th in the ICC T20 rankings, despite being five-time champions.

The last few months, however, have seen an improvement in their performance.

In the race for the title, they will be considered dark horses.

SRI LANKA KEY PLAYERS

  • Most batsmen have a hard time reading the googly of Wanindu Hasaranga, the most reliable bowler in the ICC T20 rankings.
  • Pathum Nissanka is Sri Lanka’s most consistent top-order batsman in recent years.
  • Captain Dasun Shanaka has been playing the role of an explosive finisher lately.
  1. Bangladesh

Bangladesh, runners-up in the last two Asia Cups, have struggled to stay calm during high-pressure knockout games.

In recent years, the team’s T20 record has also been less than stellar.

We think they have slim-to-no chances of winning the title, since they are currently ranked 9th in the ICC T20 rankings.

BANGLADESH KEY PLAYERS

  • Shakib al Hasan has literally carried the burden of his side for the past decade, ranking second in ICC T20 all-rounder rankings. Shakib is the most versatile player on his team, so his experience will come in handy.
  • Bangladesh would be dependent on Litton Das, their most explosive top-order batsman, for a solid start.
  1. Afghanistan

Afghanistan has been a consistent T20 team. We believe they will not be able to win the tournament due to a lack of bench strength.

Currently ranked 10th in T20Is, Afghanistan do boast a quality bowling attack – centered on Rashid Khan – that can trouble any team.

AFGHANISTAN KEY PLAYERS

  • Rashid Khan is arguably the most dangerous leg spinner in the world, and his googly is difficult to predict. According to the ICC T20 bowlers rankings, he is ranked fourth.
  • Muhammad Nabi is the captain of his side and currently the No. 1 all-rounder in T20Is. His experience will be crucial, and he and Rashid Khan will need to rally the other youngsters in the team.
